My Old Sony (pt 3 - end)

Finally I had my own camera, and anybody around me certainly knew that fact. Blue came with me every where I went, to school, concerts, vacations; whenever and wherever I left the house to go, I had my camera on me at all times.  It really helped me understand today why people suggest you never make excuses but simply go out and shoot. Expensive equipment be damned, if you can't get the shot now then you suck it up and get it when you can, but never stop shooting for reasons related to equipment.
My old Sony lasted me about three good years before I finally upgraded to a Canon T2i and started taking photography courses. At the end of the day it was those 3 years that I'm particularly grateful for, as they allowed me to see photography as being a viable option for my future, whether completely encompassing my life or at the very least playing a big role.

My Old Sony (pt 2)

It was on these brief trips where I was just by myself and could really focus on what I wanted to do, I began to actually look for images to make. I wasn't simply happening upon scenes while I was waiting for something else, I was starting to actively go out to shoot my city landscapes and images of people on the street, but with thought put into making these images. That winter I finally got my own updated version of my friend's camera as a joint Christmas gift (I called her Blue, quite originally because... she was) and I found myself spending more and more time out shooting.

My Old Sony (pt 1)

The first time I began to explore my longstanding interest in photography was right before starting college. A close friend of mine in high school would constantly lend me her camera to use to take images for my school paper. It was a black Sony cybershot, one of the last re-modelings before the slim version (think of something like the DSC-W130) that had on camera filters and was too much of a hassle to try and use manually.
When I would borrow the camera for an extended time I would use it to take pictures of my family, my friends, my girlfriend, nothing outside of what you'd expect from your average teenager. When I would "accidentally" head home with her camera in tow on the weekend though, I would use it to explore around on the 6 train (Pelham Bay Park to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall) and in Manhattan. I would do it just for some quick fun, to kill some time while waiting for friends to show up, to do something that would distract from dealing with senior year for a little while...

Day One, A New Beginning!

So guys, here it goes. A completely fresh canvas for me to use, both as a photography blog with links and tutorials and as a display for my recent photography work. I have no idea what to expect out of this or how this will all work out or what this will turn into, but isn't that the point? Trying something new, putting myself and my work out there to see what comes out of it. If you like my content, have any suggestions for the blog or have any questions about links or tutorial recommendations, feel free to leave a comment! And if you're one of the handful of people actually reading this, thanks a ton.
